The Community Effect- Be The Change

Local Banks and Credit Unions raise money for Gresham Charities
September 14
Gresham, Oregon
Through October 8th, as part of The Community Effect project, seven
local financial institutions are joining a community wide fund raising
effort to help Gresham charities. 100% of all money raised benefit
Snow Cap Community Charities, My Father’s House Family Shelter and The
Gresham Barlow Education Foundation. Three great East County causes
that deal with the problems of hunger, homelessness, and helping
disadvantaged youth in the Gresham Barlow School District.
The Gresham branches of Rivermark Community Credit Union, MBank,
Umpqua Bank, Oregonians Credit Union, West Coast Bank, Key Bank and
Riverview Community Bank are all participating. Each have
enthusiastically adopted this community building effort. Signs are up
in their lobbies promoting giving to help strengthen local charities,
as well as other Community Effect promotional material. No matter
where you do your banking, your donations of any amount will be
gratefully accepted at any of these Gresham branches.
The Community Effect was founded and funded by a local dentist. His
vision is to unite Gresham schools, churches, residents, businesses
and government to work together as one during the month of September
to raise money to strengthen local charities. TCE is run by volunteers
and there are no paid staff.
On October 2nd their will be a Community BBQ and picnic at Cedarville
Park to celebrate Gresham, and as the final event of The Community
Effect’s first year.

This is the first year for The Community Effect Project. It will be an
annual event in Gresham, and we will be offering other communities a
model to start their own Community Effect.
The Gresham City Council issued a proclamation of support for TCE last
week making the last week in September Community Effect Week in
Gresham and encouraging residents to join in this fund raising effort.
The Gresham Chamber of Commerce has been involved in a big way in
promoting TCE to it’s members.
TCE is working closely with the Gresham Barlow School District and
their 19 schools to encourage youth participation in this fund raising
effort. Community Effect signs are up at all Gresham Barlow Schools.
Dozens of banners and sign boards are up around Gresham promoting TCE.
100 real estate size signs are up at major intersections in Gresham
promoting TCE.
TCE does not allow corporate sponsors. All contributors are listed
alphabetically on TCE website, not by how much money they donate.
